https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=785879 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=785879#c0 Summary: no fallback to default display (e.g. notebook build-in display) if second screen is off Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.2 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 12.2 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: X.Org AssignedTo: bnc-team-xorg-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: tilo@mail-privat.net QAContact: xorg-maintainer-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.4 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/22.0.1229.94 Safari/537.4 AlexaToolbar/alxg-3.1 i use a bigger, external Screen for my notebook. its connected thru the analog 9pin VGA connector. the notebook display is turned off when external Screen is connected. annoying - it happens always if i forget to choose the notebook build in screen as the primary screen BEFORE i disconnect the external one and going away with my notebook. when i try to use the notebook later, there is no possibility to work with it, cause i cant see anything. now, i can switch to console and restart X to solve, but it kills all my running programs. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Start any Display Manager (in my Case XFCE) 2. connect a second Screen at VGA Connector 2. run gnome-display-settings and choose the external Device as the "used" one 3. disable the Notebook Display and Close Lid 4. disconnect the external Screen. 5. open lid Actual Results: no active display anymore. Expected Results: Should Fallback to the aviable Screen. by the way: X11 Crashes with the nvidia drivers for 630M with error message "no NVIDIA device found". its seems to be impossible to use nvidia drivers for optimus cards.
Sure. Optimus is not supported by NVIDIA on Linux. Also the NVIDIA GPU sits there only for rendering. It doesn't drive the outputs directly. If you're interested in using the NVIDIA GPU for increasing rendering speed you should look into the Bumblebee project. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
