My next step was installing new fresh installation of OpenSUSE 12.3 x86_64 and after some investigation I found that this boot time increase seems to be caused by sg3_utils update (to sg3_utils 1.33-5.4.1-x86_64). I tried to install just this update on fresh system. After downgrade (to sg3_utils 1.33-5.1.1-x86_64) system boots fast again. Another thing pointing to this update is "/var/log/messages", where appeared lot of messages similar to: "2013-09-12T19:23:59.020158+02:00 linux-jp02 systemd-udevd[371]: timeout '/usr/bin/sg_inq -p di --export /dev/sdd'" Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: (0. Install fresh OpenSUSE 12.3 x86_64) 1. Install openSUSE-2013-683 update 2. Reboot Actual Results: System boots up in around 5 minutes Expected Results: Normal boot time This behavior may have something in common with that i have 4 slot memory card reader connected by USB to my computer. In /dev/disk/by-id/ i can see links only for all HDDs and SSD. MC reader is probably listed as: usb-GENERIC_USB_Storage-CFC_200412150824515LD-0:0 usb-GENERIC_USB_Storage-SDC_200412150824515LD-0:3 usb-GENERIC_USB_Storage-SMC_200412150824515LD-0:2 (This is from 13.1 with normal boot).
