[Bug 339280] New: Installation attempt when XP hibernated leaves system non-booting
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=339280 Summary: Installation attempt when XP hibernated leaves system non-booting Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Final Platform: i586 OS/Version: Windows XP Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: paul@peck.org.uk QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: Beta-Customer Installing openSUSE10.3 on a dual boot system where openSUSE10.2 had been installed. The XP OS was hibernated. The Partioning dialog recommends including my two NTFS partitions in the list of mounted drives. I accept the recommendation but I am then advised that it cannot proceed with installation while XP is hibernated - it advises me to reboot in to XP. Something has not been completed (perhaps grub information has not been written??) and the hardrive will no longer boot! The work around is to manually edit the partiton selection - blanking out the mount point for the NTFS drives so they cannot be mounted. This allows the install to proceed. The user then has to add teh NTFS partions manually later. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
