https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=332939 Summary: Boot with acpi Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 10.3 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: rdb@rdbnetsolutions.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Customer When booting 10.3 normal systen will hang on boot consistently trying to load cpufreq modules. I even yesterday pulled the latest kernel update. The only way to boot it is to use acpi=off. I do notice that it effects the performance. This same pc had been running opensuse 10.2 flawless. First this was done as an upgrade. Since I had all the problems I gave up and formatted and reinstalled with the same issue. This system has the following hardware: DFI Infinity 975 X/G Intel Core 2 6600 4 Gig ram ATI X1900 XT Adaptec 3405 raid controller with 4 sata drives in a raid 5 -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I even yesterday pulled the latest kernel update So it also froze at cpufreq modules before the kernel update, then I expect it's something else..., but better double check. If this is still a problem, we should also check whether it is at least fixed with latest mainline kernel (11.0).
I close this one for now. Please reopen if you: a) See the slow disk problem with 11.0 (hmm, maybe we should open a seperate bug then, to not mix up things) b) Still see the cpufreq hang with 10.3 latest update kernel. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
