[Bug 564405] New: rear does not support rsyslog on x86_64
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=564405 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=564405#c0 Summary: rear does not support rsyslog on x86_64 Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.2 Status: NEEDINFO Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: Other AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: schlomo.schapiro@novell.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Other Blocker: --- rear 1.7.21 as shipped with openSUSE 11.2 does not work with rsyslog. The rescue system assumes the rsyslog modules to be found under /lib while they are installed in fact under /lib64. The bug was not found earlier because apparently nobody tested rear on x86_64. rear 1.7.23 fixes the bug and has been tested on openSUSE 11.2 x86_64. Furthermore, rear 1.7.23 adds the validation info for openSUSE 11.2 so that users who run "rear dump" also get the information that rear has been tested on openSUSE 11.2. Furthermore, rear 1.7.23 fixes another critical bug that caused rear to recreate all ext* filesystems as ext2 instead of ext3 or ext4. I am the rear maintainer and I already put 1.7.23 into Archiving on obs and would like to get it now into the Update channel. AFAIK no other packages depend on rear and maintaining a special patched version does not make much sens from the point of view of rear. Therefore I hope that a version update can be permitted for this case, especially since a patch would consist of about 90% of the version difference. BTW, 1.7.22 was a broken release and superseded by 1.7.23 shortly after its release. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
