[Bug 309050] New: Suggested partitioning contains second swap and changes existing partitions
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=309050 Summary: Suggested partitioning contains second swap and changes existing partitions Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Beta 3 Platform: i686 OS/Version: openSUSE 10.3 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: goldstein.mark@gmail.com QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: --- I tried installing openSUSE 10.3 beta 3 over installed openSUSE 10.2. My partisions before installation were defined as follows (printed from 10.3 after installation): Disk /dev/sda: 60.0 GB, 60011642880 bytes 255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 7296 cylinders Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes Disk identifier: 0xcf9fcf9f Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System /dev/sda1 * 1 4795 38510608+ 7 HPFS/NTFS Partition 1 does not end on cylinder boundary. /dev/sda2 4795 6069 10236240 7 HPFS/NTFS Partition 2 does not end on cylinder boundary. /dev/sda3 6070 7296 9855877+ f W95 Ext'd (LBA) /dev/sda5 6070 6166 779121 82 Linux swap / Solaris /dev/sda6 6167 6819 5245191 83 Linux /dev/sda7 6820 7296 3831471 83 Linux Both Linux partitions were Reiser-FS. I wanted to re-format /dev/sda6 (my /) and keep /dev/sda7 (my /home). For some reason installer suggested creation of additional swap partition (another 760 MB) right after existing swap partition, then /dev/sda7 with 5 GB and then /dev/sda8. So that position of partitions was changed. So in order to keep my partitioning and to just reformat /, I had to go to expert mode. I can't see the reason why? (One possibility is that my current swap partition is too small (the laptop has 512 MB RAM?) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
