Page cleaning messes up everything for me. Also load packages for tesseract for you lang! Then OCR and it should work good and then I got also icuneform work. Tesseract even managed to detect the multi column layout that my sample junk mail test was laid out in. The quality was so-so which I attribute to the text being in German with Umlauts and not being able to choose the language in the drop down window (4 blank entries). rpm -q tesseract reports that I have tesseract-3.00-5.1.x86_64 installed. I installed the German and English language sets. OCR works for me whether I have "Clean up Images" turned on or off. The editor for the OCR text is a bit strange.
