--- Comment #2 from Kamarada Linux
what would you change in your distro compared to standard opensuse?
I see openSUSE as a big, good and multi purpose distro, that can be used to a variety of things, and that's good, because I do many things when I'm using my computer: I access the Internet, I do my university works, I program, I listen to music, I experiment with Linux... but until I found what I consider a "perfect" desktop, I had to remove some programs, install other ones, do some configuration... new people to Linux would find it difficult to do. I would like to spread openSUSE, because as I said, I consider it a very good distro. But I would like to distribute it in my own way, with: - a default software selection that I personally consider better (for example, VLC instead of Kaffeine, KDE Telepathy as the default IM client, maybe Chromium instead of Mozilla Firefox, for example) - some configuration I believe can be useful (for example, when one opens an email in KMail, if the message has both text and HTML versions, the text version is shown by default, I would like to change that, it's a little detail, but I think it's a good example of what I would change in openSUSE, I'm very perfectionist) - all the packages needed to translate the distro into Brazilian portuguese installed by default - detailed documentation in Brazilian portuguese - custom branding In short, I want to make a fork of openSUSE, focused on the desktop/laptop home user, and more specifically, the Brazilian desktop/laptop home user. I choosed Kamarada as its name (the correct spelling in portuguese is "camarada") because this word can mean two things: if used as a noun, it means "buddy", and if used as an adjective, it means "friendly". Of course, the openSUSE community will be able to benefit from my work, and I'm going to submit you any documentation, ideas, patches, programs that can be of your interest. I think I can contribute mainly to the wiki, both in Portuguese and in English. And, of course, spreading openSUSE (I will explicitly tell my distro users that is powered by openSUSE and they can benefit from your good work). I would like to have a repo in OBS outside of my home namespace so my project does not seem so homemade... I would be very thankful if you could do that for me. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
