Glibc is available in both i586 and i686. Solver uses i686 but images use i586. Bad luck. However, there are some possible solutions on YaST side: 1.) Exclude some packages from removal operation (glibc, rpm, ...) 2.) Deny any arch change 3.) Deny any arch change for some packages (glibc, rpm, ...) ImagesInstall wants to get the system to the state after accepting the installation proposal --> which uses i686. Reassigning to Coolo to build images in order with the solver result. It should not remove the package, but let the solver update the package. 11.0 and 11.1 had the very same glibc arch in the images, simply because there is no way to remove the glibc package cleanly from the images and i586 is the only one that is guaranteed to run. I'm not sure where exactly the problem is, but in theory the solver should simply do an upgrade to the better arch and not say there is no glibc needed.
