[Bug 959161] New: Download (curl) errors while installing and after installation
http://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=959161 Bug ID: 959161 Summary: Download (curl) errors while installing and after installation Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: Leap 42.1 Hardware: x86-64 OS: openSUSE 42.1 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation Assignee: yast2-maintainers@suse.de Reporter: gohan23in@gmail.com QA Contact: jsrain@suse.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- I get lot of "Download (curl) errors" - During Installation only If i enable repositories,And after a fresh install too when trying to install/update/refresh packages/repositories. I have experienced the same problem in openSUSE 13.2 too when i started using it from last year. Example of the errors as faced in openSUSE 13.2- http://dpaste.com/113F8FA Download (curl) error for 'http://download.opensuse.org/update/13.2/x86_64/libyui-qt-pkg6-2.44.7-1.8_6....': Error code: Connection failed Error message: Failed to connect to download.opensuse.org port 80: Network is unreachable The same happens in openSUSE Leap 42.1 and i see lot of pop-ups of curl errors from system tray update manager. ipv6 support: Not supported/ISP limitations Steps to Reproduce:Not sure, try the following with internet connection provided by ISP's that don't provide/support ipv6. 1.Enable repositories during installation and try to install. 2.Just install and start to use the distro like installing packages, repo refresh, updates via update manager from system tray. Expected Results: To install, update, refresh from repositories smoothly without the annoying Download (curl) errors. Distro: openSUSE Leap 42.1 Additional Information: 1.I don't experience this problem with my other non-openSUSE linux distributions. 2.The only way i can stop the download curl errors from appearing is when i add 'ipv6.disable=1' in the "Optional Kernel Command Line Parameter" under kernel parameters tab in Boot Loader settings in yast. 3.Experienced both in openSUSE 13.2 and openSUSE LEAP. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

network unreachable ... it would have been nice to know if it really used IPv6 or IPv4 ... but network unreachable is normally a routing problem. download.o.o problems would be more in the area of "connection timed out" "connection refused".
I have tried with different machines and different connections from last year and got the same problem and haven't faced it with other distors. Last year an openSUSE member from the IRC channel told me - IPv6 is not offered by your ISP. However download.opensuse.org is available both via IPv4 and IPv6, with the latter having preference. The problem is solved only when i add 'ipv6.disable=1' in the "Optional Kernel Command Line Parameter" under kernel parameters tab in Boot Loader settings in yast. So as routine i do this after installation after the 13.2 experience. It was annoying when i got the errors during installation of leap as mentioned in my report. I wish there was a disable ipv6 option in the installation before trying to add the repos. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

ipv6.disable=1 you can also specify on the DVD boot prompt i think anyway ... this sounds like your ISP gives you IPv6 addresses but doesn't route them. so not an error on our side. closing as invalid. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
