[Bug 841696] New: [Intel] xorg.conf* screen resolution via PreferredMode disregarded by X if valid video= on cmdline
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=841696 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=841696#c0 Summary: [Intel] xorg.conf* screen resolution via PreferredMode disregarded by X if valid video= on cmdline Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Factory Version: 13.1 Beta 1 Platform: All OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: mrmazda@earthlink.net QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created an attachment (id=559415) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=559415) 13.1B1 y2logs from i915 host gx280 Initial summary: [Intel] xorg.conf* screen resolution via PreferredMode disregarded by X if valid video= on cmdline xorg.conf's "PreferredMode" regardless of presence or not of video= on cmdline is obeyed by X in: 13.1M4 using: rv200/radeon/KDM3 (host gx27b) nv11/nouveau/KDM3 (host kt880) i845G/intel/KDM3 (host gx260) i915/intel/KDM3 (host gx280) i945/intel/KDM4.11.1 (64 bit host gx62b) 13.1B1 using: rv200/radeon/KDM3 (host gx27b) nv11/nouveau/KDM3 (host kt880) valid video= on cmdline overrides valid PreferredMode set in xorg.conf* in: 13.1B1 using: i845G/intel/KDM3 (host gx260) i915/intel/KDM3 (host gx280; accompanying attachment) i945/intel/KDM4.11.1 (64 bit host gx62b) Notes: 1-Attempting to conform screen resolution to configfile setting via krandrtray works in KDE3. Attempting to do the same via KScreen in systemsettings in KDE4 fails (selection works, but selection will not apply). 2-cmdline modes sample used: 1152x864, 1400x1050, 1920x1440 3-no difference in behavior between using 3.11.rc7 and 3.11.1 kernels 4-set to basesystem because I have no idea whether this is kernel, xorg, video driver or other issue 5-I always set video= on cmdline in order for the vttys to be comfortable to use 6-I always set vga= on cmdline as well, in order to avoid initial display in 80x25 mode 7-I normally avoid graphical startup by including splash=verbose on cmdline even though Plymouth is not installed 8-all tests made with Grub Legacy as bootloader 9-all tests using CRT supporting up to 2048x1536 10-I searched to find this behavior described on bugzilla.kernel.org and bugs.freedesktop.org, without success -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Fixed in 13.1 also -> https://build.opensuse.org/package/show/openSUSE:13.1/xf86-video-intel
Right, 11 days ago, 2.99.904. So why is 2.99.902 still the only version on the mirrors anywhere in the 13.1 oss/non-oss/update repos? The word "escaped" was used in comment 12 because I had several systems with 904 that now have 902, the highest version shown in zypper se -s intel. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
