[Bug 894889] ntpd service start timeout
http://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=894889
--- Comment #11 from Marius Tomaschewski
Well, in this case an IPv6 default route exists, but no global address was assigned to the local interface.
But this it normal as they're assigned by different mechanisms [except in static case]. e.g. DHCPv6 does not handle routes at all (no option defined); also autoconf [flag in RA.prefix] doesn't -> RA available and lifetime > 0.
BTW, I am not even sure the hang was due to IPv6, because I see no evidence for that in comment 0 and I can't reproduce it on my 13.1 with the ntp package from Factory and after manually removing all global IPv6 addresses from eth0.
I'd assume this. In my tests (straces) I've made a while ago (12.3 or 13.1 beta phase), it were trying to reach ipv6 servers in several cases where it will never work and waiting for responses a long while -- especially when burst flag is set. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
