[Bug 255275] New: yast NTP configuration: looking up NTP servers
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=255275 Summary: yast NTP configuration: looking up NTP servers Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Alpha 2 Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Enhancement Priority: P5 - None Component: YaST2 AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: ke@novell.com QAContact: jsrain@novell.com YaST offers to search for NTP servers in your net. This silently fails (~ "No server found") if the appropriate port is not open. I propose to enhance the result message. As an example, check the message you see, if you try to add an "Installation Source" (catalog) via SLP scan: ───────────────────────────────────────────────────┐ │ │ No SLP catalogs have been found on your network. │ │ │ This could be caused by a running SuSEfirewall2, │ │ │ which probably blocks the network scanning. │ -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

Please attach YaST logs. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=255275 ------- Comment #2 from kmachalkova@novell.com 2007-03-22 11:12 MST ------- Ping :) Without YaST logs, I tend to close this as 'worksforme', because it really does -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=255275 ------- Comment #3 from ke@novell.com 2007-03-23 01:46 MST ------- In the past, it never worked for me and there was no hint concerning firewall settings ;) And Tanja got also fooled by it recently (updating 10.1 to 10.2, IIRC). I'll try to catch a nice log soonish. Yes, I should pay more attention to these needinfo requests ;( -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
