I downloaded openSUSE 11.2 Milestone 5 liveCD (openSUSE-KDE4-LiveCD-Build0201-x86_64.iso) from http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/11.2-Milestone5/iso/] Loading Milestone 5 on my Toshiba satellite p200-17d (intel 965 graphics) the system fails to start "init 5" and gives the linux prompt without graphical server. Logged as root, "startx" also fails. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Run the Milestone 5 kde liveCD on a computer with intel graphics Actual Results: X server fails to start with various errors about intel driver and memory management (see bellow) Expected Results: Graphical log-in and kde4 desktop ;) On screen I see these messages (transcript from a photo): ------ (EE) Failed to load module "i810" (module does not exist, 0) FATAL: Could not load /lib/modules/2.6.31-rc4-1-default/modules.dep: No such file or directory FATAL: Could not load /lib/modules/2.6.31-rc4-1-default/modules.dep: No such file or directory (EE) intel(0): [drm] Failed to open DRM device for : No such file or directory (EE) intel(0): Failed to decome DRM master. (EE) GARTInit: Unable to open /dev/agpgart (No such file or directory) (EE) intel(0): /dev/agpgart is either not available, or no memory is available for allocation. Please anable agpgart (EE) intel(0): Failed to initialize kernel memory manager (EE) intel(0): AGP GART support is either not available or cannot be used. Make sure your kernel has agpgart support or has the agpgart module loaded. (EE) intel(0): AGP GART support is either not available or cannot be used. Make sure your kernel has agpgart support or has the agpgart module loaded. (EE) intel(0): Couldn't allocate video memory Fatal server error: AddScreen/ScreenInit failed for driver 0 .. [here it is the X.Org wiki address] giving up. xinit: No such file or directory (errno 2): unable to connect to X server xinit: No such process (errno3): Server error ------ I looked at the /var/log/Xorg.0.log file using "cat".
