[Bug 692788] New: dmesg filled with "drm:intel_prepare_page_flip"
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=692788 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=692788#c0 Summary: dmesg filled with "drm:intel_prepare_page_flip" Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.4 Version: Final Platform: i586 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.4 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: X.Org AssignedTo: bnc-team-xorg-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: colAflash@gmx.net QAContact: xorg-maintainer-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:2.0.1) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/4.0.1 Hi, I experienced this bug on openSUSE 11.4 too: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/765813 It happends while running an application using DRI (3D graphics), like the screensaver Flurry. The files /var/log/messages and /var/log/warn fill up with this message: drm:intel_prepare_page_flip The message comes so fast, that it slows the 3D performance and you get a 1 GB log-file in about 10 minutes!!!!!
So it's not just some 3D stuff that doesn't work. It also keeps an openSUSE system from working, by filling the harddisk with log files and making it the system unusable! For example my KDE didn't initialised anymore.
It's and IBM Thinkpad (maybe 7 Years old) with an Intel CPU and graphics Chip (I will check the model - doesn't have it here right now). Fixed it by adding this to the file /etc/drirc <device screen="0" driver="dri2"> <application name="Default"> <option name="vblank_mode" value="0" /> </application> </device> But maybe driver could be something more specific then "dri2". This bug seems to affect a lot of Intel graphic chips.
