1. "since 3.11.10-34.1" means including that version or only the newer
(i.e. 3.12) updates?
2. "most recent update" is version 3.12.59-47.1? What flavor?
3. Please check the values of
/proc/sys/kernel/hung_task_panic
/proc/sys/kernel/panic
/proc/sys/kernel/panic_on_io_nmi
/proc/sys/kernel/panic_on_oops
/proc/sys/kernel/panic_on_unrecovered_nmi
/proc/sys/kernel/panic_on_warn
/proc/sys/kernel/softlockup_panic
/proc/sys/kernel/unknown_nmi_panic
/proc/sys/kernel/watchdog
4. (Assuming you are encountering the issue with X server running)
Please check if this also happens without X: use Ctrl-Alt-F1 to switch to
a text console, log in as root, run
init 3 # (you might need to switch back using Alt-F1 after that)
setterm -blank 0
echo 8 >/proc/sys/kernel/printk
echo 0 >/proc/sys/kernel/panic
and wait if the system hangs after the usual amount of time (you may also
try running something to load CPU (e.g. "openssl speed rsa"), disk etc.)
If it does, it should write some useful information to the terminal.
