[Bug 338354] New: Installation with Base CD-KDE doesn' t work with an external USB CD-ROM
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=338354 Summary: Installation with Base CD-KDE doesn't work with an external USB CD-ROM Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Final Platform: i386 OS/Version: openSUSE 10.3 Status: NEW Severity: Blocker Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: mbergunder@gmx.de QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: Other Hardware: Notebook with no internal floppy but only USB. Boot CD via external USB CD-ROM 1. Bios recognizes external USB CD-Rom and boots openSuSe 2. Normal Installation of OpenSuSe starts 3. It hangs when it tries to activate usbdevices last line is "via_rhine" 4. The systems gives the following message: "Could not find the OpenSuSe Repository." It gives on all occasions the clear message that it doesn't recognize a CD-ROM. (Alternative Installations without ACPI etc. don't work either). It seems clear that the Installation System does not have the proper drivers for a standard external USB CD-ROM (Windows XP Instellation doesn't have any problems with it as I have found out). The problem is grave as many notebooks only boot with external USB CD-ROMs and there is no way of installing Linux properly in theses cases. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
