[Bug 578245] New: after kernel upgrade, /boot/grub/menu.lst is virtually empty, system does not boot
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=578245 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=578245#c0 Summary: after kernel upgrade, /boot/grub/menu.lst is virtually empty, system does not boot Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Bootloader AssignedTo: jsrain@novell.com ReportedBy: seife@novell.slipkontur.de QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: Community User Blocker: --- After doing a kernel upgrade, all kernel entries are removed from menu.lst, so it's virtually empty and the system does not boot. This system was installed from a LIVE USB stick, which caused the USB stick to be added as a secondary disk drive, and that caused problems before. I have, however, removed traces of that secondary "disk" from grub.conf and device.map. After today's kernel upgrade, menu.lst was empty again and I had to restore it from menu.lst.old to keep my system bootable. Will attach perl-BL-standalone.log, if you need further information, just ask :) -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
