Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Boot to GDM login prompt 2. Log in 3. Since I see some cogl complaints in the backtrace, please give mutter and gnome-shell from my branch a spin. I don't have very high hopes, but it's worth a try.

Tried it, the issue's present, backtrace looks the same. Thanks anyway. Quick googling led me to https://git.archlinux.org/svntogit/packages.git/tree/trunk/0001-Initialize-f...; does it look relevant for you? ... That said, I just tacked the arch patch on top of the other patch I had in my branch already, if it applies and builds you can test from the same repo in a while.
