[Bug 288334] New: xvinfo crashes xorg 7.2 with nvidia drivers
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=288334 Summary: xvinfo crashes xorg 7.2 with nvidia drivers Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: X.Org AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: plasmahh@gmx.net QAContact: sndirsch@novell.com Found By: --- Hi, I am running xorg 7.2 from the opensuse repositories (tried both -30 and -263) on my amd64 with an nvidia 8800gtx and the nvidia drivers (tried 100.14.09 and 9775) and when running xvinfo (or anything else that tries to check/use the XVideo extension) this will crash the xserver. Upon expecting the core file I found that it gets a signal 6, probably by some abort. A few seonds before that happens (after starting xvinfo) the X server starts getting *really* slow (~1 fps or so). This is the backtrace I can get: #0 0x00002b28745c2535 in raise () from /lib64/libc.so.6 #1 0x00002b28745c3990 in abort () from /lib64/libc.so.6 #2 0x0000000000460db3 in ddxGiveUp () #3 0x000000000056e493 in AbortServer () #4 0x000000000056eab5 in FatalError () #5 0x000000000048afdc in xf86SigHandler () #6 <signal handler called> #7 0x000000000044a0f0 in Dispatch () #8 0x000000000043354d in main () trying with -30 suggests the abort() is somewhere around dispatch.c:417 but there doesnt seem to be anything that could lead to call abort, so maybe the bt is a bit crippled. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

From my point with that package the problem is solved for now.
