[Bug 468689] New: brief extension doesn't work in firefox (version opensuse:from repository)
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=468689 Summary: brief extension doesn't work in firefox (version opensuse:from repository) Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.1 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Firefox AssignedTo: bnc-team-mozilla@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: rd1381@yahoo.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Created an attachment (id=267076) --> (https://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=267076) picture of brief extention that doesn't work User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.0.5) Gecko/2008121300 SUSE/3.0.5-2.5 Firefox/3.0.5 brief extension (http://brief.mozdev.org/) doesn't show the new feeds in its third panel in the firefox that is installed from opensuse/Mozilla repository but in firefox downloaded from mozilla website , it works without a problem. i searched Brief forum and found out its a problem that is in firefoxs shipped with some distributions (like mine: opensuse 11.1 and before that in 11's version) a similar bug has been fixed in archlinux (http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/10968) so why not in opensuse? Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.install brief extension in firefox shipped with opensuse 2.refresh feeds 3.see that there are new feeds but they are not shown -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

a similar bug has been fixed in archlinux (http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/10968) so why not in opensuse?
Because we didn't know about that yet. xulrunner/firefox on 11.0 and 11.1 are using the system sqlite installation which obviously doesn't have that feature enabled. There are two possible solutions: - enable fts3 in the global sqlite3 package - stop using system sqlite but ship xulrunner/firefox with its own library -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Because we didn't know about that yet. xulrunner/firefox on 11.0 and 11.1 are using the system sqlite installation which obviously doesn't have that feature enabled. so is somebody gonna fix it in firefox repositories? is it a error or an option? if an option (sqlite-fs3 or something like this) why not enable it?
and the solutions you posted are for a technical person, not me :) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Probably*
is it a error or an option?
FTS3 seems to be optional and isn't built by default while Mozilla wants to use it.
if an option (sqlite-fs3 or something like this) why not enable it?
That's the question for the sqlite3 maintainer. If system sqlite3 won't provide that feature we will have to ship the sqlite module with Firefox.
and the solutions you posted are for a technical person, not me :)
True. This is a bugtracking system and I can only comment on Firefox not sqlite. Therefore I've listed the possible options for someone in Novell to decide what to do. You hopefull get a solution when this bug gets marked as resolved. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
