[Bug 748958] New: broken softwaremgmt patch in update-test blocks installing patches
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=748958 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=748958#c0 Summary: broken softwaremgmt patch in update-test blocks installing patches Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.1 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: openSUSE 12.1 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Maintenance AssignedTo: maintenance@opensuse.org ReportedBy: suse-beta@cboltz.de QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Beta-Customer Blocker: --- The 12.1 update-test repo (again) contains a broken softwaremgmt patch that blocks installing any other patch. The result is that I can't install the available security patches :-/ # zypper lp Loading repository data... Reading installed packages... The following software management updates will be installed first: Repository | Name | Version | Category | Status | Summary ------------+------+---------+-------------+--------+--------------------------------- update-test | 310 | 1 | recommended | needed | softwaremgmt: Update for 2012/03 The following updates are also available: [...very long list...] # zypper patch Loading repository data... Reading installed packages... Resolving package dependencies... Problem: libksuseinstall1-4.7.4-11.9.x86_64 requires zypper, but this requirement cannot be provided uninstallable providers: zypper-1.6.16-5.3.1.i586[download.opensuse.org-oss_2] zypper-1.6.16-5.3.1.x86_64[download.opensuse.org-oss_2] zypper-1.6.18-5.8.1.i586[update-12.1] zypper-1.6.18-5.8.1.x86_64[update-12.1] zypper-1.6.22-5.17.1.i586[update-test] Solution 1: Following actions will be done: install zypper-1.6.22-5.17.1.i586 despite the inferior architecture [... lots of arch changes to i586 ...] The only workaround is to disable the update-test-repo, but that isn't a real solution and Better solutions would be (pick at least one ;-) - zypper should ignore patches that are not installable - even if they affect the softwaremgmt - add an option "zypper patch --skip-softwaremgmt" that skips softwaremgmt patches (similar to --skip-interactive) - or (more as a workaround) don't publish the patch as long as it's not installable I can provide logs if needed, but I'd say this issue is very obvious and doesn't need logs ;-) I'm assigning this bug to the maintenance team for now and hope to get a working update-test repo soon. Feel free to reassign as needed ;-) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
