I have overheat problem on my Asus F8Va with Radeon HD3650 (openSUSE 11--13.2). I tried different kernel version -- it does not help. With old fglrx driver the temperature was about 36-40 degrees, the laptop was not hot. Then it'd be better to be reported in bugzilla.freedesktop.org. The developers work more actively there. Care to open a bug report there?
