https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=856745 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=856745#c0 Summary: USB3 to SATA bridge not being assigned a /dev/sdx device Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 13.1 Version: Final Platform: x86 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: Greg.Freemyer@gmail.com QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:25.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/25.0 I have a small USB to SATA adapter. With 13.1 on my laptop it works with the USB2 port, but not with my USB3 ports. I only have openSUSE 13.1 on one local PC, so I have not tested this with any other computers. The device is a Kingwin USI-2535U3 (USB3 to Sata adapter) The dmesg output that occurs when the device is connected to my laptop shows: [950905.154670] usb 4-2: new SuperSpeed USB device number 2 using xhci_hcd [950905.167256] usb 4-2: Parent hub missing LPM exit latency info. It does show up via lsusb (It's the Genesys device below)

udev issue? + Oliver.
No. If the log for the 3.0 case is complete the probe, which is done in the kernel driver, is not performed. It is not clear from the log why it fails. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
