I guess that a specific configuration is needed because it seems that it can not be reproduced on your own hardware systems and virtual machines. Did anybody ever try to install a new user for testing purposes with suggested device drivers by a script to discover the detailed differences that result in unexpected software behaviour? Now I can confirm that I have got no problems when I switch to the user "susi" who is looking around in Fvwm 2.5.23.
