[Bug 348257] New: System configuration generates incorrect menu.lst file
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=348257 Summary: System configuration generates incorrect menu.lst file Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Final Platform: 64bit OS/Version: Linux Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: mikedl@comcast.net QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Customer When I upgrade my system or install kernel updates, the software component that generates the menu.lst file makes incorrect menu.lst files. It always specifies the root device in the form: root (/dev/mapper/isw_ddfafhegd_ARRAY_part5,4) instead of the correct: root (hd0,4) It does this in both the root line and in the kernel line: kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.22.13-0.3-default root=/dev/mapper/isw_ddfafhegd_ARRAY_part7 vga=0x31a resume=/dev/mapper/isw_ddfafhegd_ARRAY_part6 splash=silent showopts To get my system to operate properly, I have to manually override root in the grub menu, and later fix the menu.lst file. This bug (and many different variations on it) have been reported repeatedly since OpenSUSE 10.2, and have never been fixed. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
