[Bug 672118] New: can not resize existing ext3 partition during installation
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=672118 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=672118#c0 Summary: can not resize existing ext3 partition during installation Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.4 Version: RC 1 Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Linux Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: ohering@novell.com QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: Outsourced Testing Blocker: --- 11.4rc1 on a Dell Optiplex 980 which has single 500GB drive. The system came with Win7 once, I installed SLES11 SP1 and let yast resize the existing NTFS partition. The resulting partition layout is now like this: Model: ATA ST3500418AS (scsi) Disk /dev/sda: 466GiB Sector size (logical/physical): 512B/512B Partition Table: msdos Number Start End Size Type File system Flags 1 0.00GiB 0.12GiB 0.12GiB primary fat16 diag, type=de 2 0.12GiB 0.86GiB 0.73GiB primary ntfs type=07 3 0.86GiB 172GiB 171GiB primary ntfs type=07 4 172GiB 466GiB 294GiB extended boot, lba, type=0f 5 172GiB 174GiB 2.00GiB logical linux-swap(v1) type=82 6 174GiB 466GiB 292GiB logical ext3 type=83 Now I wanted to install also 11.4rc1 on it to do some testing. So I tried to resize sda6 in the hope to get some space for sda7. But yast just shows a popup: Error Partition /dev/sda6 cannot be resized because the filesystem seems to be inconsistent.
From looking into y2log its not clear what the issue is. dmsetup table returns noting, and mounting sda6 manually works ok.
