[Bug 699911] New: [Qt4-UI] yast2 creates window larger than screen -- hides (ok/cancel)....
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=699911 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=699911#c0 Summary: [Qt4-UI] yast2 creates window larger than screen -- hides (ok/cancel).... Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.4 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.4 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: YaST2 AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: suse@tlinx.org QAContact: jsrain@novell.com CC: tgoettlicher@novell.com Depends on: 618520 Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2.6) Gecko/20100625 Firefox/3.6.6 I have multiple monitors, but the 2nd monitor is 10 feet away, not part of my desktop, and often not visible or on. Yast2 opens it's windows larger than my primary screen size -- apparently thinking that the non-visible 2nd monitor is part of my desktop. Thus all of the right-side of the window is not visible and it's not immediately clear what the problem is or why there is no "ok" or "cancel" operation. I finally 'refigured out', that it was oversizing the window and moving the window around was able to find the other buttons. This bug was was also in 11.2 but ignored as an 'enhancement (#618520)'. However, since upgrading and my alternate screen really is invisible to me (my main screen, a 30" one) blocks it's view. So this is really a bug at this point, since someone who had no clue (it took me a while to remember what the problem was, it's been so long), would be lost. Yast needs to limit itself to 1 monitor. That's the first problem. Second, related problem -- yast(2) ignores any 'resizing' I do to try to correct this -- every NEW window it opens is also resized such that all of the standard open/close buttons are hidden (why not put them on the 'LEFT, bottom', if this is such an issue. That way all the control buttons are on 1 side and require less cursor movement.... just a thought -- not sure why it was put on the far right to begin with). Why doesn't 'yast' keep track of what I set the window size to? This seems pretty basic -- even windows does this... Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3. Try resizing yast2 window to a smaller size, then when you hit next and it opens another window, it ignores your size and resizes it to large again. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Bug 699911 depends on bug 618520, which changed state.
Bug 618520 Summary: [Qt4-UI] yast2 shouldn't try to monopolize screen- opens windows off screen; difficult to use
