[Bug 352222] New: yast partitionner uses ntfs in place of ntfs-3g
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=352222 Summary: yast partitionner uses ntfs in place of ntfs-3g Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Final Platform: 32bit OS/Version: openSUSE 10.3 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: YaST2 AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: jdd@dodin.org QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: Beta-Customer In re-making the bootloader (propose new solution option in YaST), YaST wrtie a faulty line in fstab: /dev/sda2 /windows/C ntfs users,gid=users,fmask=133,dmask=022,locale=en_US.UTF-8 0 0 /dev/sda3 /windows/D ntfs users,gid=users,fmask=133,dmask=022,locale=en_US.UTF-8 0 0 (sda2 is vista, sda3 xp) ntfs should be ntfs-3g or the locale option unset, this setting makes the ntfs system unmountable. This happened in an obscure situation, I was trying several installs on usb keys and noticed the windows partition where no more visible. In fact the grub install removed the windows boot system and windows was no more bootable either, but I yet have to understand how - the windows partition are clean in fact fixing this in fstab (adding "-3g"), I have this: ................. $LogFile indicates unclean shutdown (0, 0) Failed to mount '/dev/sda3': Operation not supported Mount is denied because NTFS is marked to be in use. Choose one action: Choice 1: If you have Windows then disconnect the external devices by clicking on the 'Safely Remove Hardware' icon in the Windows taskbar then shutdown Windows cleanly. Choice 2: If you don't have Windows then you can use the 'force' option for your own responsibility. For example type on the command line: mount -t ntfs-3g /dev/sda3 /windows/D -o force Or add the option to the relevant row in the /etc/fstab file: /dev/sda3 /windows/D ntfs-3g defaults, force 0 0 ............ AFAIK windows what shut down properly and the sda2 partition, still problematic mount fine now. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
