no, using powervm would make the boxes pretty useless for me. yes, I assume that the version of OPAL that we run on these boxes is too old to work with the OPAL calls in the kernel these days. In the end it's basically either compile skiboot/skiroot ourselves and try how far we get or just let the boxes die off slowly running the old kernels they are running now.
