I'm no GNOME user, either :) But I'm going to test on a VM tomorrow.
There seems another hidden secret to make fcitx working on GNOME 3.16. A
gsettings setup for overriding GTK IM setup is needed. Namely, we'd need to
put a code snippet like below to fcitx xim script:
gsettings set org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.xsettings overrides \
"{'Gtk/IMModule':<'fcitx'>}"
