A new upstream release of open-vm-tools, with support for gtk3, has dropped.
I've been able to package it up and do limited testing with my openSUSE
20160605 Tumbleweed guest and so far copy-n-paste and drag-n-drop are working
for me.

Would you be willing to test these packages and give your feedback?
