I can reproduce this on three machines, all running openSUSE 13.2 and using the i915 driver, but all with different models of video controller. I was able to work around the issue on one of the machines by installing an Nvidia card and switching to the proprietary Nvidia driver. This leads me to believe that the problem is in the X.Org Intel driver, not in glib or GTK+. See also: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=88584
