The new kernel didn't change anything for me. When I connect my CanoScan LIDE 25 to a USB3 port it is detected: % lsusb <snip> Bus 005 Device 005: ID 04a9:2220 Canon, Inc. CanoScan LIDE 25 <snip> But xsane still reports that it cannot detect any devices, as does scanimage -L. Attaching it to a USB2 port still works. So the behavior is essentially the same as reported in comment #8. This is kernel version 4.3.0-rc5-113-g16c8b9c-1.gb8b1716-vanilla.
