Well I have had a bit of a breakthrough. Much of what I said in the previous
comment about the previous kernels can be disregarded as most of the tests I
did were invalid in light of new information.

I've determined that my card crashes when the laptop is on AC power. That is,
when it is on battery it runs perfectly on all kernels from 4.9 back to 4.5.
Everything prior to that crashes regardless of whether the PC is plugged in.

On battery, the only thing that is at all odd is a message about an invalid
pcie lane (see 4.9_battery_dmesg)

However if it is plugged in, regardless of whether it has been that way from
the moment it boots up or if I plug it in while using the card, it crashes. In
the latter case it crashes instantly when switching from battery to AC power.

For whatever reason the logs I posted previously (on AC) don't contain the full
crash log (I could have sworn it wasn't being produced for some reason before)
so I'm posting entirely new dmesg logs and obsoleting the others.

Also I'm clearing the needinfo request because I think I have provided
everything you need by now. I don't know if I'm supposed to do that so sorry if
I'm breaking some bugzilla etiquette.
