Okay I found a way to do this via YaST Software Management. I spent 15 minutes or so swapping kernels starting with your suggested version. None of them work until you get to: Linux tab1 3.16.7-7-desktop #1 SMP PREEMPT Wed Dec 17 18:00:44 UTC 2014 (762f27a) x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux (this is my output from uname -a) Sound does not work with any later kernel. I tested using Youtube videos. I notice also that framerate plummets when it cannot play the sound channel.
