Of course not, there haven't been any changes done yet in openSUSE, and the
Packman people apparently ignored your mail so far.

But to be clear: the situation is that we do not install phonon-backend-vlc by
default (and never did), and there are also no recommends or supplements in
place that would do that automatically (if you install vlc e.g.).

People install it on their own on purpose and "break" their system while doing
so.

I still think we should do something to improve the situation though as
mentioned, I just didn't find time yet to work on that.
I hope I can come up with something over the weekend...
