Hi, Sorry for the late reply after half a year (I thought it was not assigned to me before) I am not that expert but I know how to stand on the giants' shoulders. I just diff-ed the "without workaround" and "with workaround" outputs. There were noises of course, the "(w)" and "(s)" took a lot of space. After reading the source code, I know they are called "FcValudeBindingWeak (w)" and "FcValueBindingStrong (s)", So they're unrelated to the issue here. Then I found what your "workaround" actually is: antialias: True And this explains why your Tahoma font looks like with scratches on it.
