I would say the variant c) would be the right one for we have to work with both distros and bundled stuff. Atm there are two pending patches: https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/#/c/23737/ https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/#/c/25673/ You can create your own submission having the git clone from here https://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/ and running command ./logerrit submit It even does the CI verification of builds and all the fun stuff. The configure.ac change is corrrect.
