I have just looked at my test machine which I have always used The core components responsible for that come from SLE and SLE uses the traditionaly names, so yes. In theory it should be possible to switch to predictable names by removing /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules and passing net.ifnames=0 on the kernel commandline but it doesn't work for me. Could the systemd maintainers shed some light on this please?
