Thanks. The full information is mandatory in such a case in order to know the product vendor / model and see other possible errors. In the past, there was a known issue with the i2c-hid driver for the Alienware touchpad, but it should have been fixed. Just to be sure, could you add blacklisting i2c_hid and retest? Add a file, e.g. /etc/modprobe.d/50-hid.conf containing the following blacklist i2c_hid Then reboot and retest. Check lsmod output whether i2c_hid isn't listed after reboot.
