I have still AFAIK the xorg errors of the user in question. 

Problem is as follows: as 42.2 was incompatible with kmail/kontakt4 and I did
not find currently the kontact/kmail5 version convenient to work with I did
drop back to 42.1. 
That said: I want to get this error fixed because I was using before with 42.1
and the kernel from 42.2 (without any problem). Then under 4.1 suddenly I had
the very same problem (that did lead me first to use the stable kernel and
then, to shift to 42.2. 
Now, as the issue seems the same, I would propose to try this with 42.1. 
If not, I can (for 2 days install the 42.2 again (but bear in mind that
probably in this period you are not going to work on this and afterwards due to
the kmail (that is really an akonadi problem) I have to drop back to the
working 42.1. 

I would propose if you agree to give you dmesg and x-log with the 42.2 kernel
under 42.1 (that has exactly the same result - so I think this speaks for a
hardware problem. As I did not do a reinstall but a zypper dup, would dmesg
work also currently (it should give also the former error of the former
install, right?). Same should be the case with the x-log?

You just tell me whether it can be done like this (it is easy to install the
4.4 kernel form 42.2 here). And I really do understand if you tell me it can't
be done like this. Besides I think although this is quite an old notebook the
X201 is currently very much "en vogue" as used asset for a few bucks with a
good relation buck-money. So it would be a pity to know that current leap will
not work on it.
