I think you missed my point. With "Wicked" I set the default gateway in YaST. I can see what I set in the config file /etc/sysconfig/network/ifroute-eth0. But the route never gets set when the system or networking is restarted. I can add the route manually or revert to Network Manager but I can't get it to set through the Wicked network start-up process.
