Has anyone been able to successfully setup a software raid using
autoyast? I've seen a bunch of posts with questions on getting it
working, but I haven't seen any successful responses. Specifically I'm
trying to mirror /boot, /, and swap without using LVM. I want to keep
it simple before I get advanced. It parses my xml file fine, it just
can't configure my software RAID. Below is my parititioning section.
I've tried many variations on it with no success. Any help is
appreciated. My typical error is...
"Could not format /dev/md2. You can continue if you know what you are
doing, but, to prevent damage your file systems, it is safer to cancel
and reboot."

Hi Reynold,
I did a successfull autoyast installation with a mirrored root disk
using the following autoyast.xml (parts not relevant omitted).
Our system is SLES9 SP2 too.
After instalaltion the fstab entries look like this:
/dev/md2 / ext3 defaults 1 1
/dev/md0 /boot ext2 defaults 1 2
/dev/md3 /home ext3 defaults 1 2
/dev/md1 swap swap pri=42 0 0
Good Luck
Alfred

I'll give it a shot with your config first, see if it does it for me

Yikes, Reynold! I just cut 332 lines out off the top of your 3 line reply! Would you please consider trimming your posts? I'm subscribed, so I get complete threads. When I need to refer back to something, I'll look up the previous post. Thanks! - Carl
Your xml file made me see where I had my mistake! Thanks so much. The
problem I had was in the definition of the md partitions, I specified a
raid_type of raid1. When defining the md partitions, you specified a
raid_type of raid. The raid1 in this section was what was causing mine
to error on the actual partition creation. Thanks for the help!!!!
Below was my error code...
