[opensuse-autoinstall] ipv6 autoyast, wrong netmask in ifcfg-eth0
Hi, We are using SLES11 SP2. We are trying to setup ipv6 and ipv4 address on the same interface (eth0) using autoyast installation: using yast2 autoyast gui I've generated this autoyast.xml piece: <interface> <aliases> <alias0> <IPADDR>219.1.90.52</IPADDR> <NETMASK>255.255.255.128</NETMASK> </alias0> </aliases> <bootproto>static</bootproto> <device>eth0</device> <ipaddr>2a00:8a00:6000:40::451</ipaddr> <prefixlen>119</prefixlen> <startmode>auto</startmode> <usercontrol>no</usercontrol> </interface> but after autoyast installation the config file (the field IPADDR) looks crippled : #/>cat /etc/sysconfig/network/ifcfg-eth0 BOOTPROTO='static' IPADDR='2a00:8a00:6000:40::451/7' <--- why is added '/7' PREFIXLEN='119' STARTMODE='auto' USERCONTROL='no' IPADDR_='219.1.90.52/25' #/>ifconfig eth0 eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:50:56:3F:AA:BC inet addr:219.1.90.52 Bcast:219.1.90.127 Mask:255.255.255.128 inet6 addr: 2a00:8a00:6000:40::451/7 Scope:Global inet6 addr: fe80::250:56ff:fe3f:aabc/64 Scope:Link UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:189 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:108 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000 RX bytes:18440 (18.0 Kb) TX bytes:21087 (20.5 Kb) if we cut the '/7' prefix for IPADDR line, then everything works fine : ifconfig eth0 eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:50:56:3F:AA:BC inet addr:219.1.90.52 Bcast:219.1.90.127 Mask:255.255.255.128 inet6 addr: 2a00:8a00:6000:40::451/119 Scope:Global Could you please advice us why ipv6 netmask autoconfiguration is not working? but after autoyast installation the config file (the field IPADDR) looks crippled : #/>cat /etc/sysconfig/network/ifcfg-eth0 BOOTPROTO='static' IPADDR='2a00:8a00:6000:40::451/7' <--- why is added '/7' PREFIXLEN='119' STARTMODE='auto' USERCONTROL='no' IPADDR_='219.1.90.52/25'

if we cut the '/7' prefix for IPADDR line, then everything works fine : ifconfig eth0 eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:50:56:3F:AA:BC inet addr:219.1.90.52 Bcast:219.1.90.127 Mask:255.255.255.128 inet6 addr: 2a00:8a00:6000:40::451/119 Scope:Global
Could you please advice us why ipv6 netmask autoconfiguration is not working?
Unfortunately my ipv6 knowledge is quite limited and I do not have a test environment for that ready. Could be simply a bug in xml import or ipv6 handling of client lan_auto.ycp Michal, could you have a look?
