[opensuse-artwork] Design Challenge
I had an idea this morning about creating a design challenge for th artwork team. Tigerfoot mentioned that the slogan for the next release is "Show Me Your Tail." I think this could be a great theme for a wallpaper design challenge. However I would like to get some input from all of you. I think also we might need to do some work on our wiki to show the challenge page with all the submissions. Let me know if you would like to go ahead with a wallpaper challenge. same in German - so not a good slogan. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+owner@opensuse.org
Well it looks like the slogan is and has always been "Linux for open
minds" I think it's a much better slogan to work with. What about we
base our designs for 12.2 on this slogan?
Thanks

Can we set a date for wallpaper submissions? The earlier we get a
wallpaper, the earlier we can work on derivative artwork, such as
marketing images, cd/dvd cases and all of that.
Suggestions?

I like the end of January as a good start point. January is almost upon us so we need time to get inspired and create awesome wallpapers. What about 20th January 2012?
it's the more demanding task

As I mentioned before, I am not that big fan of 'challanges' nor even motto based artwork. I am just a fan of good design ;) Greets Marcus -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+owner@opensuse.org
Should we have a design theme at least? that way we create artwork
that is more consistent with 1, the distribution, 2, the artwork team.
Many would think that designing based on a particular theme or idea is
limiting, but the true genius of artists is to take familiar materials
and create something wonderful. We could all have red oil and a brush,
yet the canvas will be painted differently every time. That was the
idea.
We could align our ideas about wallpapers so that they don't seem to
different for users and then use them for the upcoming release.
We do not have to have a challenge. Better yet we could have a theme,
not a motto, a theme. It could be based on design elements we always
use for example, say we need to use "leaves" on our wallpaper
creations. Or something of the sort. What say you? :D

I rather would prefer to be free in design, at least for the desktop. We may think of finding common elements, that don't change over the releases for e.g. application splashes, syslinux, grub, yast and maybe even bootsplash. !!!Andy!!!! Thanks for transforming a joke sentence into propaganda :D For example rtfm will stay over time in my brain, and no the f doesn't translate by Fine. At least what is sure, if you use that (I warn you on irc) slogan, be prepare for a long bike-shredding thread :D -- Bruno Friedmann Ioda-Net Sàrl www.ioda-net.ch openSUSE Member & Ambassador GPG KEY : D5C9B751C4653227 irc: tigerfoot -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+owner@opensuse.org
Hey Bruno
It doesn't have to be that slogan. It can be anything else. I was
suggested that but obviously some of you and many more, will have a
problem with it. Let's not use that slogan :D
