[opensuse-artwork] general notes on ML polls
Hi all. here are some general notes on ML polls. Please use the original thread to vote. Only give one +1. Votes with more than one +1 will note be counted. Comment in a separate thread (e.g. if the vote thread is named openSUSE 12.1 wallpaper poll, use a comment thread openSUSE 12.1 wallpaper comments for discussion). Keep the thread as it is (do not snip out or modify +1s by others). Add a blank line after your +1. Here is an example how this might look:
DRAFT1
+1 +1
DRAFT1
+1 +1 +1 <<<<<<<<<<<---- this is your vote
DRAFT3
+1 +1
If you follow these guidelines, we will always have a good overview of already given votes and do not have to hardly them count one by one. If you do not follow these guidelines, your vote will not be counted. You might also get excluded from upcoming votes. Polls on the list are limited to users who subscribed there and should not be cross posted to other lists (e.g. an artwork poll should not be sent out to the marketing list, too). Cross posting is a bad idea in general (greets to Jos). As the current openSUSE 12.1 wallpaper poll has already been broken (by the first voter :)) these rules does not apply there. I admit that I have not clearly stated the rules before. Sorry. Hope that helps for upcoming polls. apologies, I had never seen those rules before and didn't know how it
should be done.
Is there a simple poll creator? Something with buttons would be easier :)
cheers,
Helen

By the way, having to choose only one is very limiting. If everyone likes a different one the most, but most agree that another is pretty good too, then there is a consensus... I love the black one but nobody is going to pick that, so I also vote for the other one I like too... *sigh* -- IRC: helen_au helen.south@opensuse.org helensouth.com -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+help@opensuse.org

an example (no other meaning). On connect we can even make polls with several answers allowed, and this makes sense in our subject https://connect.opensuse.org/pg/polls/read/jdd/14723/artwork-first-poll-only... the poll can be public (no reason to make the choice only ours) jdd -- http://www.dodin.net http://www.youtube.com/user/jdddodinorg http://jdd.blip.tv/ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+help@opensuse.org

In the concrete case, we had to vote for an artwork concept. You should select the one you prefer and that's all. I do not think multiple choices makes sense in such kind of decisions. I never understood that until the poll was finished :-( - is so why giving lots of variations on the same image? You
should select the one you prefer and that's all.

I think we can refine choices, removing the ones that no people want and go smoothly to a consensus jdd -- http://www.dodin.net http://www.youtube.com/user/jdddodinorg http://jdd.blip.tv/ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+help@opensuse.org

That's why I sent an update mail to explain it again.

I think that is like shooting cannonballs on little birds. We do not have that many concept submissions at all. The one from Richard is not even a new one, but a slightly updated old design, btw.
