Dear folks, I am trying to compile gcl-2.6.1-33 on SuSE9.0. On the i386 platform, no problem, but on the AMD64 platform, the make process fails. A funny thing is that I can compile it with SuSE8.2beta9..... Is there anybody that has compiled gcl-2.6.1 with success, and then made maxima-5.9.0 and axiom on SuSE9.0/AMD64? Thank you for your attention. yoriaki fujimori

What exactly is the error message you get?

The error message is something like:
Loading ../tkl.o Error: Caught fatal error [memory may be damaged] ...... Broken at LOAD. Saved_gcl itself is already there, but it cannot load compiled hogeblah.o properly. A funny thing is this never happens on SuSE 8.2beta9. The same gcl-2.6.1-33 source, the same `./configure' procedure, but different environments. On SuSE8.2beta9, I can compile maxima-5.9.0 and axiom with compiled saved_gcl. Maxima and axiom are running fine there. yoriaki fujimori
