Re: [suse-amd64] g77
Here's the output:
garnetstar@linux:~> ls -l /usr/bin/g77
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 17324 1998-03-29 10:06 /usr/bin/g77
linux:/home/garnetstar # ldd /usr/bin/g77
/usr/bin/ldd: line 1: /usr/bin/g77: No such file or directory
linux:/home/garnetstar # file /usr/bin/g77
/usr/bin/g77: ELF 32-bit LSB executable, Intel 80386, version 1 (SYSV),
dynamically linked (uses shared libs), stripped
Is that last result indicative of an incompatibility with 64-bit processing? It
seems strange, since this was supplied with the machine.
I'm the only official user of the machine, although it's tied into the system at
Vanderbilt U.

Make sure g77 is executable for the appropriate user/group.

I'm running SuSe 9.0 on an Athlon64 machine, and I can't get g77 to work, even though it appears to be installed in the right place. If I invoke it from bash, I get "/usr/bin/g77: No such file or directory," even though /usr/bin/g77 in fact exists. From csh, I get "command not found." Is there a problem running g77 on this system, or was it installed incorrectly?
What does the following output: ls -l /usr/bin/g77 ldd /usr/bin/g77 file /usr/bin/g77

Why is this a 32-bit executuable? What does rpm -qf /usr/bin/g77 say? You should install the 64-bit gcc-g77 rpm for it... Andreas
