Is there anybody who know how does xine or mplayer under Suse 64 works
Hello all together, perhaps there is someone out ther who knows how mplayer or xine under Suse 64 works. I have tryed to install from Pack Mans Page, but it doesnt works. Perhaps there is someone who declare it for an newbie. thanks a lot Heiko
I just got this to work. took a couple tries, but I think the steps are - uninstall xine-ui and xine that comes with Suse - download the xine-lib and xine-ui source from xinehq.de - configure xine-lib using ./configure --libdir=/usr/lib64 - make / make install - configure xine-ui using just './configure' (--libdir=/usr/lib64 probably doesn't hurt) - make / make install if you install any other libraries (e.g. libdvdcss), make sure to add the --libdir=/usr/lib64 switch for 'configure'. This archieve has a thread "Getting Xine to Play DVD's"
date July 05, 2004. I followed this thread and got my xine
working on my laptop. The key was obtaining the source,
recompiling and installing the software packages for xine,
libcss ... etc. Suse has disabled the shipped software from
playing almost any DVD's , legal reasons, thus requiring a
rebuild and reinstall.
